"Proper acclimation and installation are key to ensuring **Cypress Select** lumber remains stable, durable, and visually appealing over time.
**Acclimation Before Installation**
Allow boards to adjust to the local environment for **7–14 days** to reach a balanced moisture content before installation. Stack boards off the ground and use spacers between layers to allow airflow around each piece.
**Storage & Handling**
Keep lumber elevated and covered to protect it from rain or direct sunlight while still allowing ventilation. Avoid placing boards directly on soil, concrete, or other surfaces that could affect moisture levels.
**Installation Tips**
Ensure proper airflow and drainage beneath the structure to prevent moisture buildup and minimize warping or cupping. Use corrosion-resistant fasteners and follow recommended joist or framing spacing to maintain long-term stability. Seal all cut ends to reduce moisture absorption and help maintain dimensional stability."
Cypress is naturally durable, but routine maintenance helps it stay strong and attractive over time. Clean Regularly: Remove dirt, debris, and mildew with a mild soap and water solution and a soft brush or cloth. Rinse thoroughly and allow the wood to dry completely. Protective Finishes: Apply a quality exterior sealer, penetrating oil, or semi-transparent stain to preserve color and improve moisture resistance. Reapply every 1–3 years depending on sun and weather exposure. UV & Weather Protection: Sealants with UV protection help slow fading and prevent surface damage. Untreated Cypress will naturally age to a silver-gray patina over time. Inspect & Repair: Periodically check for cracks, raised grain, or loose fasteners and address minor issues promptly to prevent larger problems. Avoid Harsh Cleaning Methods: Do not use high-pressure washing or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the wood fibers and remove protective coatings. With regular care, Cypress Select Grade decking maintains its durability, stability, and natural beauty for residential, commercial, and coastal projects.
